Our history

The FRANCHI+ASSOCIATI studio was founded in 1993 in Pistoia by Gianfranco Franchi, landscaper and architect. Over the years, the studio has expanded its design activity by dedicating itself to urban space and participating in national and international competitions, achieving prizes and awards. In 2002, the studio expanded to Lucca with the foundation of the Franchi Lunardini Partners studio, followed by the birth of FRANCHI+ASSOCIATI in 2007, which caters to public and private clients.

The wide range of fields of application includes the design of public parks, design of urban areas, waterfronts, residential gardens, garden restoration, redevelopment of degraded areas, naturalistic engineering interventions and impact studies (VIA). Over the years, the design activity has extended to a large part of the Italian territory and to various foreign countries, leading to the foundation of F+A Maastikuarhitektuur OÜ in Estonia in 2015, together with Chiara Tesi and Rea Sepping.
The design activity is also supported by teaching on the degree course in Landscape Architecture at the University of Genoa and, currently, on the II level Master’s Degree in Landscape Design at the University of Florence.

Among the most important projects of the studio we can mention: the S. Anna park in Lucca, the redevelopment of the gardens of the promenade in Lodi, the waterfront of Savona, the redevelopment of the Po-Polesan collector in Porto Viro in the Po delta park, the new central square of Valga and the Tammik park in Tartu (Estonia), the restoration of the ragnaia of the Horti Leonini in San Quirico d’Orcia, the Gregorutti square in Lignano Sabbiadoro and the restoration of Villa La Quiete in Florence.
The vast design experience in various fields of application has led the studio to increase the number of collaborators, providing the necessary skills to carry out high quality projects.
At the end of 2022, the studio transformed into a design company among professionals: FRANCHI+ASSOCIATI Srltp.
