Landscapes of History: New Projects for the Castles of the Aosta Valley
FRANCHI+ASSOCIATI, together with architect Giorgio Galletti, is currently developing a programme for the enhancement of the open spaces of some of the Aosta Valley’s most significant historic sites: Aymavilles Castle, Palazzo Roncas, Issogne Castle and Quart Castle.
Launched in October 2025 in collaboration with the Superintendency of the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley, the project explores new strategies for the conservation and regeneration of these remarkable places, strengthening the relationship between architecture, landscape and cultural heritage.
Each intervention is conceived as a careful dialogue between history and contemporary use, preserving the distinctive character and genius loci of each site while improving accessibility, spatial quality and the visitor experience. The aim is to reveal and reinforce the identity of these historic landscapes, allowing their heritage to remain alive, legible and meaningful over time.
